Here we are
Today was our first full day in the city. A few of us woke up early to explore the neighborhood and buy breakfast. We ended up at a little bakery on broadway, full of New Yorkers in their black coats, many drinking coffee and reading the news. We had class for a bit and then headed out to take photos at The Riverside Church. A beautiful, historical church only a block or so away from the International House. Something that really struck me was that the church was hoppin' with diverse members of the community the whole time we were there.
From the church we took a very long walk to the Museum Mile and went to The Guggenheim. It was fabulous! The art is so much better in person than it's been in slides during class. Several of us decided that rather than walking home we'd take the subway which was quite an experience. We transfered three times but I think we all enjoyed it. Now after a stomach full of some local Indian cuisine I'm tired and ready to wake up tomorrow and start another day!
Where have all the roommates gone?
So I boiled some water the other morning and made myself a fresh cup of coffee. Then I waited, and waited. Unfortunately, you did not sneak quietly out of your room. You were not there to pour yourself a cup of tea. There wasn't anyone there to appreciate and partake of the freshly boiled water. The moral of the story, we miss you! Hope you are having fun in that big city across the country. Can't wait to hear all about it :)
