I was lucky enough to be chosen by Barbara and the WANG Center as staff assistant for the South Africa course. I have worked in PLU's Computer Center for over 6 years now and enjoy photography, hiking, and various other outdoor activities. Prior to this course I had minimal exposure to African history, which included only a couple of classes about African civilizations. However, I did have the opportunity to briefly meet Desmond Tutu at the Lutheran Youth Gathering in 2003.
